Here’s A Breakdown Of Lil Durk’s New Charges
As previously reported, U.S. Marshals arrested Lil Durk on Oct. 24 in Florida. Banks was en route to board one of three international flights he booked after police arrested the kill crew he allegedly hired.
The Justice Department shared the updated charges on Friday (Nov. 8), per WGN9. Prosecutors added two new felony charges and a grand jury indicted Durk. He is now listed as the lead defendant in a previous indictment charging the alleged kill crew.
Lil Durk is facing one count of conspiracy, one count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death, and one count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.
Prosecutors also say that the murder-for-hire plot was a revenge killing for the death of King Von. He and Durk shared a close relationship. He allegedly put out the bounty on Quando two years after Von’s death, on suspicions he was involved in it.
This Is What Prosecutors Say Durk Did
Prosecutors are accusing Banks of hiring Kavon Grant to book the hotel rooms and get the crew the guns, ski masks and two sedans used in attack. Grant and Lil Durk flew on a private plane from Chicago to California, while five other men flew commercial to San Diego from Chicago. The other men prosecutors charged and named so far are: Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston. Prosecutors claim that a text message has a directive from Lil Durk to not book any flights under his name.
After landing in San Diego, the men drove down to Los Angeles, and then stalked Quando Rondo to several locations, before attacking him in a shootout at a gas station. They reportedly fired 18 rounds at Quando’s vehicle. Grant allegedly made the payments, too.
Cops bagged Durk in Miami after he booked flights to Switzerland and Dubai, and a private plane to Italy. He’s been in custody ever since. Grant and the kill crew are also in custody. Their charges include conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, committing murder-for-hire involving a death, use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death, one count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms in a violent crime resulting in death, and use of a machine gun in a violent crime resulting in death. Jones is also charged with possessing a machine gun.
No Pleas Copped Yet
After his arrest, officials in Cook County, Illinois recinded keys they awarded him. The touching ceremony for the self-proclaimed hometown hero happened a couple of days before his arrest. Meanwhile, right after his detainment, the mayor of Chicago seemingly showed support for Lil Durk to the press.
All six men charged, including Durk, have not entered a plea. If convicted, they face a statutory maximum sentence of life in prison, per WGN9.
