Wendy Williams makes rare public appearance at son’s graduation
Former talk show queen Wendy Williams made a rare public appearance as she cried at her son Kevin Hunter Jr.’s college graduation.
Wearing a sparkling dress, Williams rode an electric wheelchair to attend the commencement ceremony at Florida International University in Miami on Dec. 19.
Williams was accompanied by her father, Thomas Williams Sr., who was brought to the graduation via a wheelchair pushed by her sister Wanda Finnie.
Williams can be seen tearing up and using a tissue as her son walked across the stage with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs.
Williams lost her top-rated talk show after she missed the entirety of the 13th season of her eponymous TV program from 2021 to 2022. She was suffering from a plethora of mental and physical maladies that included Grave’s disease, lymphedema and drug and alcohol addiction.
Exacerbating Williams’ condition was the fact that, at the same time, she was also embroiled in a tumultuous and public divorce from her husband, Kevin Hunter, after she learned that he had started another family with his longtime mistress.
Three years later, Williams has a court-appointed legal guardian who oversees her money and health. She is also in a wellness facility that specializes in treating cognitive issues as she suffers from dementia.
