Nick Cannon Talks Embracing Narcissistic Personality Diagnosis
Nick Cannon is a strong advocate for mental health and now he’s sharing his struggles with it after a Narcissistic Personality Disorder diagnosis.
Whether fans love it or hate it, Nick is an open book about his personal life. While that often meant updates about his barrage of babies, the father of 12 has more than that going on. In addition to living with Lupus, he recently revealed that he was recently diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). The booked and busy star opened up to People about embracing the condition.
The 44-year-old “always kind of knew” he was neurodivergent from childhood due to dyslexia and later an ADHD diagnosis. Now, he admits he’s “healing” and needs help with NPD after following through on the long-held desire to get tested for it.
“I still don’t understand it all the way,” he told the publication at a pre-Thanksgiving event for the Los Angeles Mission. He also sees discussing his mental health journey, even without knowing exactly where it leads after this revelation, as a way to give back to others.
“I feel like there’s so many labels out there, but it’s like, to be able to embrace it and say, ‘Look, I’m healing. I need help. Show me.’ I just embrace mental health and therapy in such a strong way. To be able to say I’m an example for others, but also be healing during the self-process works too,” he continued.
Nick Cannon Reveals NPD Diagnosis On Counsel Culture Podcast
Earlier this month, Nick announced the news on a Nov. 8 episode of Counsel Culture. In a conversation with Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, who specializes in psychology, Nick said he exhibits almost all of the “markers” for NPD. Instead of hiding from the stigma of the term, he’s confronting it head-on. The unserious serial inseminator has certainly been called worse.
“I’ve taken all the power away from the term narcissism ’cause I’ve researched it and I understand it. Call me whatever you want… now if I didn’t know what it was, then I have issue with it,” he told Bryant.

Nick Cannon Starts “Very Complicated” Holiday Season With Thanksgiving Baby Mama Marathon
As the Masked Singer host prepares to play St. Nick at six different households next month, he’s already making the rounds for Turkey Day. With a family this big and blended, he says the holidays are “very complicated.” And all that running around won’t stop him from making plates while making memories.
“I’m a busy man on Thanksgiving,” he says of visiting multiple homes on the holiday. “I’m going to be full by the end of the day, but everybody specializes in certain things, you know what I mean? Some people got good sweet potato pie, some people got amazing fried turkey. So I know every house that needs to have the things that I really like.
On Instagram, Nick shared some super sweet family photos with Brittany Bell, sons Golden, 7, Rise, 2, and daughter Powerful Queen, 3.
