Lil Wayne Speaks On Super Bowl At WeezyAna Fest

While onstage at WeezyAna Fest, Wayne told fans how he felt about not getting picked for the halftime gig. During the concert, he shared his backstory about being a football fan for years.

“When the first Super Bowl was here I made sure I bought tickets at the beginning of the season. And you know, I did the same when I moved to Miami and I wishing my team made it and guess who made it that year, the m**** f****g Saints. I was able to give my momma that suite and she was able to bring my family and other people from New Orleans and they had a f****** ball. That moment I said to myself, I wanna be on stage at the Super Bowl one day in front of my mom,” Wayne said.

The rapper continued to tell the crowd that he had always worked hard to eventually perform on the Super Bowl stage.

“And I worked my a** to get that position and it was [ripped] away from me. But this f****** moment right here, they can’t take that man, they can’t take that from me. Ladies and gentlemen make some noise for yourself for being amazing,” Lil Wayne continued.

TSR previously reported that Weezy posted a video on social media expressing his disappointment about not performing at the halftime show. The rapper said it “hurt a whole lot” and blamed himself for “not being mentally prepared for the letdown.”

“I thought that nothing better than that spot, and that stage and that platform in my city. So that hurt, hurt a whole lot. But y’all are f*****g amazing. It made me feel like s**t not getting this opportunity and when I felt like sh*t you guys reminded me that I ain’t sh*t without y’all,” Wayne said.

Wayne Receives Keys To New Orleans

Despite feeling down about not performing at the Super Bowl, Wayne received a huge honor at the WeezyAna Fest. Mayor Latoya Cantrell and Master P presented Weezy with the keys to New Orleans.

Additionally, Master P gave Wayne props for making history with Young Money. He also announced that February 6th will kick off the NOLA Walk of Fame, and Wayne will be the first honoree on Canal Street. Master P also revealed plans for a skating arena on February 6th and 7th to celebrate Wayne and declare it ‘Wayne Day.’

Hot Boys Reunite At WeezyAna Fest

Lil Wayne’s WeezyAna Fest featured some epic moments. The Big Tymers hit the stage for a quick set, and the Hot Boys reunited after over 15 years, as reported by Complex. Birdman also joined the group onstage. The Hot Boys were originally rumored to perform at this year’s Essence Fest, per Rolling Stone. During the event, the Hot Boys delivered their hits like ‘Bling Bling,’ ‘Neighborhood Superstar’ and ‘I Need A Hot Girl.’

Shortly after videos of the Hot Boys reunion circulated, Jermaine Dupri jumped on social media to share his thoughts.

“Pardon me for getting excited about the amazing show they just had, ima Hip Hop n***a and this was a moment,” Dupri wrote on X.

Then he dropped another message stating that Drake should’ve made an appearance. “I can’t believe Drake missed that, couldn’t have been me.”
