Drake planning another ‘beef’ with Kendrick Lamar
Drake is entering a new season — one he’s calling ICEMAN. The Toronto-bred superstar is reportedly putting the finishing touches on what will be his ninth studio album, a project shrouded in mystery but buzzing with expectation. There’s no official release date yet, but the whispers are growing louder: The drop is imminent.
The ICEMAN album part of a bigger plan for Drake
And if DJ Akademiks is to be believed, the album is only the beginning of Drake’s plans. He wants to get some payback at Kendrick Lamar, the rap emperor who destroyed Drizzy in their rap battle in the middle of 2024.
During a recent livestream, the ever-plugged-in commentator teased that Drake is gearing up for something even bigger than a return to the charts: a massive, globe-spanning tour slated for 2026.
Drake wants to beat Kendrick Lamar’s world tour record
The goal? To dethrone Kendrick Lamar as the reigning king of hip-hop touring. Kendrick’s “Grand National” trek with SZA currently holds the record as the highest-grossing hip-hop tour in history. Drake still owns the U.S. touring crown, but global domination — AK claims — is squarely in his sights.

“I think Drake wants to beat the world record going into next year,” Akademiks said, as captured by CY Chels on X. “I think he’s saying, ‘Yo, I don’t need an agent really. But if I’m gonna have an agent, my agent’s not gonna rep my opp. F–k that.’”
It’s bold talk, but audaciousness tends to follow Drake whenever a new era begins.
The stove is hot, Drizzy claims
This isn’t the first time Akademiks has dropped hints about the rapper’s current headspace. Earlier this month, he shared that Drake has been quietly locked in the studio, laser-focused on crafting ICEMAN.
“Drake (has) been off the road, he’s cooking up, and it’s a beautiful thing for all Drake fans,” he teased. “Now we’re going to get what we really want from The Boy … He says, ‘Ak, the stove is hot!’”
Akademiks says Drake is gearing up for the “Iceman” tour and he’s coming directly for Kendrick’s global crown.
Drake already owns the U.S. touring record but Kendrick holds the worldwide title.

Akademiks even urged fans to give Drake the space to finish the record in peace: no livestreams, no surprise features, no distractions. “Let my boy cook, and whenever he’s done cheffing, we gon’ have a good time,” he insisted. “We’re about to go through one of those again — I like it.”
A new era in motion
If the chatter is accurate, Drake’s ICEMAN era may be gearing up to blend two things the rapper does best: blockbuster releases and culture-shifting tours. The prospect of hearing fresh Drake material — followed by a global stage takeover — has fans in a frenzy, watching his every move for clues.
For now, ICEMAN remains under wraps. But one thing feels certain: Drake isn’t just planning a comeback — he’s plotting a campaign. The Boy wants a crown, and 2026 might be the year he reaches for it on a global scale.
Until then? The stove stays hot.
