Caitlin Clark pays homage to WNBA superstars, slams SNL

Preeminent basketball savant Caitlin Clark visited “Saturday Night Live” and summarily thrashed longtime cast member Michael Che for disparaging women’s basketball.

First, however, the former Iowa Hawkeyes superstar paid the ultimate honor to college and WNBA legends who paved the way for Clark and others.

“Thanks to all the great players like Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie, Cynthia Cooper, the great Dawn Staley and my basketball hero, Maya Moore,” Clark said.

“These are the women that kicked down the door so I could walk inside,” she continued. “So I want to thank them tonight for laying the foundation.

Clark summarized her thoughts on Che’s frequent disparagement of the WNBA by offering him a signed apron.

“And Michael, since you’re such a big fan, I brought you a souvenir — it’s an apron signed by me.”

Clark continued, saying that Che needs to tighten up his comedic skills if he’s going to continue to take shots at the WNBA.

“This year, Caitlin Clark broke the record for 3-pointers in a single season, and I have three-pointers for Michael Che. One, be. Two, funnier. Three, dumb—,” Che read before the audience erupted in laughter and applause.
