More On Tory Lanez’s Accusation Against His Former Attorney, Shawn Holley
On Monday, October 28, TMZ published an exclusive report asserting that Lanez reportedly filed a formal ethics complaint against Holley. The complaint reportedly asserts Holley “didn’t have his best interest at heart” when she represented him during his trial for the 2020 shooting involving Megan Thee Stallion.
Per the complaint, reportedly obtained by the outlet, Lanez asserted that he retained Holley without knowledge of her alleged “business ties” to Megan’s label, Roc Nation. Additionally, Lanez reportedly noted that Holley worked as a producer on the Hulu series, ‘Reasonable Doubt.’
The series reportedly is “loosely” based on Holley’s life and allegedly featured songs from Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé. Furthermore, Holley’s daughter, Nayanna, allegedly has her own professional ties with Beyoncé.
However, Lanez’s accusations don’t end there. Per TMZ, his complaint asserts that the CEO of Roc Nation, Desiree Perez, assisted Megan with giving police statements amid his case. Then, on December 18, 2022 —— days before his guilty conviction — Holley abruptly quit his case after allegedly accepting upwards of a $200,000 payment from the rapper.
Furthermore, Lanez believes that his refusal to accept a guilty plea in the case “caused Holley to neglect fighting for his innocence.” Lastly, TMZ asserts that Lanez requested Holley be disciplined for her actions and return his payment.
Shawn Holley Responds To Being Accused Of Having Ties With Roc Nation
Holley reportedly shared a statement with the outlet in response to Lanez’ complaint:
“Mr. Peterson brought these meritless claims to the State Bar over a year ago and they were summarily rejected and the matter was promptly closed,” she reportedly explained. “His actions to publicize this failed effort are likely tied to the appeal of his criminal conviction, for which I wish him well.”
Additionally, Holley reportedly shared a statement with reporter Loren Lorosa. In the statement, Holley explicitly denied ever having business ties with Roc Nation, adding that her show ‘Reasonable Doubt’ had “nothing to do with” the record label.
After sharing Holley’s response, Lorosa shared a reaction from Lanez’ legal team, Unite The People. The statement asserted that Lanez has never filed a complaint with the California bar. However, Holley reportedly reacted, alleging the falsity of the legal team’s assertion.
Per TMZ, Holley has also asserted that she did not abandon Lanez amid his trial. Instead, she alleges, he wanted to continue his case with a “completely new and different defense.”
