NBA superstar Shai Gilgeous Alexander’s home invaded


The expansive home of NBA defending champion Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was broken into while he was busy playing a game.

Another athlete’s home breached

Police in Nichols Hills, about 10 miles north of Oklahoma City, where Gilgeous-Alexander plays at the Paycom Center, raced to the scene of the invasion. By the time officers arrived, the suspects had fled the scene, according to KOCO 5 News.

The outlet reports that the would-be burglars were not able to penetrate the estate to make away with any valuables, according to the officers on the scene.

Attempted burglars did not wait for an away game

Unlike the suburban homes of Kansas City Chiefs superstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, the attempted burglars did not plan the invasion on SGA while the famous owners were out of town to play a game.

The news outlet reported that they do not yet have any suspects in custody, but have a heavy police presence in the neighborhood. Nichols Hills police also informed the public that they do not believe there is a threat to the community, as this was a planned event with a specific target.

There was also a lot of people on the streets as children all over the city celebrated Halloween, which may have provided temporary camouflage and distraction for the suspects.

Sports, athletes have become prime targets of home invasions as they know the schedule of the players and the wealthy occupants have many valuables stored there, including jewelry and cash. In recent years, the homes of Mahomes, Kelce, Luka Dončić, Ketel Marte, Andre Johnson, and Olivier Giroud.

Gilgeous-Alexander was always an NBA star

SGA, 27, a Toronto native, was selected 11th overall by the Charlotte Hornets in the 2018 NBA draft. A draft-day trade sent him to the Los Angeles Clippers, where he played one season before being dealt again the following offseason to the Thunder.
