More Details On The Shooting At The Christian School In California
According to Fox 35 Orlando, the shooting occurred on Wednesday, December 4, at the Feather River School of Seventh-Day Adventists in Palermo, California. To note, the outlet reports that the town is south of Oroville.
Furthermore, the outlet reports that the shooting occurred around 1 p.m. Authorities had reportedly received reports about “an individual on campus who had fired shots at students.” When officers arrived, they reportedly found the shooter “on the ground.” Per Fox 35 Orlando, it appeared as if the shooter suffered a self-inflicted gun wound.
According to Butte County Sheriff Kory L. Honea, the gunman “did not appear to have a connection to the school.” However, it was reportedly discovered that he had a previous appointment at the school.
“We have received some information that he made an appointment to come to the school and meet with an administrator,” SHeriff Honea reportedly explained, per PEOPLE. “His statement to school officials was that he wanted to explore the possibility of enrolling a family member as a student at the school. After that meeting is when the shooting occurred, and then subsequently it appears as though he took his own life.”
At this time, police — along with the FBI — are reportedly working to “figure out whether the meeting was legitimate” or a “ruse” to gain access to the campus. Per PEOPLE, it was also reported that the suspect arrived in an Uber, and the driver of the car is currently being questioned.

According to CNN, Governor Newson reacted to the shooting with a statement on X.
“Heartbreaking. Once again, a community is shattered by senseless gun violence. Our hearts are with the children, their families, and everyone impacted by this horrific tragedy. To the survivors of gun violence: You are never alone. California stands with you,” the governor wrote.
