Dave Coulier Defends John Stamos After Bald Cap Gesture

Dave Coulier is stepping in to defend his TV brother, John Stamos. Uncle Jesse, as John is known in the ‘Full House’ series, faced backlash after a bald cap photoshoot with Dave. The gesture was a tribute to Coulier’s newly revealed battle with stage three cancer.

For context, Dave Coulier told Hoda Kotb last week that doctors diagnosed him with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma about six weeks ago now. Despite it being very “aggressive,” Dave said medical professionals determined through tests that the cancer is “very treatable.”

Here’s Why Dave Coulier Had To Step In For John Stamos

Since learning his diagnosis, Dave has undergone chemotherapy, surgeries, and hair loss. His former blond and voluminous hair is now a buzzcut. As a sign of support, John Stamos shared some bald cap photos featuring himself and Dave Coulier on Monday to his Instagram feed. His caption admired his former castmate’s strength.

“Nothing like throwing on a bald cap and flexing some Photoshop skills to show some love and solidarity with my bro @dcoulier. You’re handling this with so much strength and positivity — it’s inspiring. I know you’re going to get through this, and I’m proud to stand with you every step of the way. I love you,” Uncle Jeese wrote in the Instagram post’s caption.

John Stamos also praised Dave Coulier’s wife, Melissa, for being the “most wonderfulest” and his brother’s “true lifeline.” However, the comment section was filled with mixed reactions, from applause to critiques.

Dave Clears The Air About John’s Joke

In an Instagram post on Tuesday (Nov. 19), Dave Coulier clarified John Stamos’s intentions with the bald cap. He began by saying that he was “sorry to see a bunch of negative comments” at the start of his cancer journey.

“It’s our friendship (me and John), and this is how we are handling a very tough time. I’m a comedian and humor is what drives me. John knows how to cheer me up, and I laughed out loud when he arrived wearing a bald cap — being a true loving friend and brother.”

Coulier added that he’s already seen and heard stories of people being inspired to get cancer checks at their doctor’s offices. So, in the meantime, he plans to “laugh in the face of adversity.”

“When I lost my sister, Sharon, my mother, Arlen, and my niece, Shannon, to cancer, we tried to stay positive, and we made each other laugh through the worst of it. So, I’m choosing to spread the word about early cancer detection to help people. That’s just who I am. I wish nothing but love for all of you.”
