Bassett welcomed her first child with husband Chris Bassett on Oct. 3, per PEOPLE. More than a month later, Candiace is sharing her son and his name, Jett Maxwell Lee, with the world for the first time!
Candiace, Chris, and their son took sweet family photos on Nov. 8. The photos show the parents feeding Jett Maxwell Lee and Candiace cheesing while holding him. Candiace Dillard Bassett and Chris kept their photoshoot ‘fits simple with white tees, jeans, and bare feet. Meanwhile, their mini-me wore a long-sleeved onesie with footies.
Despite this being Jett Maxwell Lee’s first public appearance, the parents chose to keep his face hidden. But, from what we can see, our ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ nephew has a head full of dark hair.
Details On Candiace & Chris’ Son & His Unique Name
As mentioned, the 37-year-old reality star has been on mommy duties for the last five weeks. Candiace told PEOPLE that her son is “the cutest little thing” and that she and her husband “couldn’t be happier.” Unlike Candiace, this is Chris’ third time around the parenthood block. Jett Maxwell Lee joins his siblings, 22-year-old Owen, 14-year-old Mateo, and 10-year-old Naya.
“It’s so cliché to say, but he’s brought such joy to our lives in ways I never would have been able to describe before. It’s pure love,” Candiace Dillard Bassett said.
Additionally, Candiace gushed about all the future adventures they will have with their son. She said her joy while pregnant has extended into her postpartum period. “I’m so ready for a lifetime of being on the sidelines, cheering him on,” Dillard added.
The parents have already predicted that Jett will give them much to cheer on. The infant’s name, Jett, means excellence and abundance in Hebrew. Maxwell and Lee are both his middle names. Meanwhile, Daddy Chris has already nicknamed the infant J.B.
“The meaning of his name was really important to me. I mean, there were a lot of names I liked that had meanings I did not like, so that just automatically tossed them out,” Candiace recalled to PEOPLE. “But as soon as I read the meaning of his name, I was like, ‘This is it. This is his name.’ “
In the years before Candiace gave birth to her son, she openly expressed her reservations about becoming a parent. Then, on season seven of ‘Real Housewives of Potomac,’ she documented her lengthy IVF (in-vitro fertilization) journey. Now, the mother of one says she wishes she had started having biological kids sooner. She’s ready for another one, and after years of fear and doubt, that feeling is “shocking” to her.
“All of those circumstances around becoming a mom, like being pregnant, raising a child, etc.? It really scared me. But it’s been everything and more. I love it,” Candiace said. Adding, “I wish I hadn’t waited so long. But I also don’t regret that this is where I am now and that things worked out the way they did. And in a way, that’s comforting to recognize I don’t regret it, you know? Like, I’ve really welcomed every part of this journey with open arms as it’s happened.”
