‘No Vaseline’ better diss track than ‘Not Like Us’
Movie and music mogul Ice Cube suggests that now that the historic rap beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake is in our rearview mirrors, hip-hop heads can perform an autopsy on that seismic battle.
Cube, 54, reminded fans that his classic heat-seeking missile, “No Vaseline” deserves strong consideration as the greatest diss track of all time.
The Barbershop and Friday franchise creator believes resolutely that his scorcher, which was a diss at his former NWA cohorts 30 years ago, is still better than Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” Tupac Shakur’s “Hit Em Up” and Nas’ “Ether.”
At a recent concert, the Los Angeles mogul told fans why his “No Vaseline was more impactful than his contemporaries’ offerings:
“One MC… I took out four motherf—–s and the manager. You can’t beat that.”

Understandably, Cube has been the greatest advocate of his “No Vaseline” song in recent times, telling HipHopDX two years ago why the track packs more punch than the other diss songs in the annals of great hip-hop battles.
