Security Guard Among Four Shot In Chicago Overnight

Around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Chicago police responded to a call reporting multiple people shot on the 400 block of North La Salle Drive. And, they found four victims and a chaotic scene. The victims were reportedly getting into a $320,000 Lamborghini SUV when the shooters opened fire. Police sources say one of the victims was a security guard working in the area, though it’s unclear if he was connected to the other three men.

First responders immediately jumped into action, performing lifesaving measures including tourniquets, chest seals, and CPR before transporting all four to Northwestern Hospital. Tragically, a 34-year-old man shot multiple times was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, the other three — a 36-year-old shot in the chest, a 43-year-old shot in the back, and a 35-year-old shot several times — remain in critical condition.

Witness Describes Surreal Moments During Shooting

Eyewitnesses described a surreal scene as the shots rang out. Rideshare driver Alberto Aquino told WGN-TV, “I heard a few shots, but it sounded like those mufflers that just kind of go offwhen I turned onto Hubbard, I saw they had closed everything.” Police say the quick response was aided by typical weekend street closures near River North bars. However, the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.

$10K Reward Offered In River North Case

Authorities have yet to release the name of the man killed or provide descriptions of the suspects or their vehicle. Meanwhile, Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $10,000 for tips that lead to arrests.
